Love it or loathe it, the Hallmark of holidays is just a few weeks away, and that means heart-adorned chocolate boxes lining store shelves and dining advertisements encouraging romantic outings to celebrate February 14th. Eva’s 1st Birthday Party
A year ago today, I was at home in the middle of what would become 20 long hours of intense labour. Despite being one week overdue, and it being the hottest month of the year, I would have been perfectly content to simply stay pregnant for a while longer, thus delaying the inevitable. The prospect of birthing Baby Melon (as we affectionately named my bump) seemed impossible—completely, 100%, NOT possible.
DIY Smoothie Bowl
Peruse Pinterest or Instagram for healthy breakfast ideas, and you’re sure to see dozens artfully arranged bowls filled with oats, fresh fruit, nuts, and seeds. Easy DIY Bumble Bee Egg
In recent years, my sister has been trading messy egg decorating techniques such as wax-masking, multi-die dipping, and intricate brush work, for single colours and minimalist designs. Like this Bumble Bee Easter Egg, her new approach has made decorating a lot more fun and creative!
DIY Thanksgiving Centrepiece
It has become our Thanksgiving tradition; as my mother finishes basting the turkey and turning out the lentil loaf, my husband and sister set out the flatware, and my father readies the carving knives, I will be found in the garden collecting flowers for a centrepiece. Floral arrangements are a lovely way to add energy to the table, and to keep it looking lively even after the feast has been devoured!
Fun Valentine DIYs
When I was a kid I remember my mum would help me and my sister to hand make cards for our classmates. I loved it! My favourite was using the potato stamp – a real potato with hearts carved into it – with squishy globs of pinky-hued paint. Each card was different and special, just like this fun DIY wrapping paper by Sugar & Cloth.
